It was Snow White and the seven dwarfs. "Not today baby." Bright said taking the book from my hands. He kept it away on his working table while I stared at him with a confused face. "Why~? You don't want to Bubble to hear bed time stories?" I whined kicking the blankets from my body. Though my body was paining so bad, my stubbornness didn't leave me Bright gently put the blanket over me again, tucking me in. I felt like a burrito among the thick blankets. "How about I take care of mommy tonight?" he asked caressing my hair. I closed my eyes the second his fingers touched my scalp. His long fingers slid through my hair skillfully massaging there. "Where is it hurting now?"

I whispered with a loving smile, “Which story would you like tonight?” Mike’s face lit up with excitement, his tiny hands reaching for his favorite book. “The one about the brave little wolf, Mumma!” I chuckled as I opened the book, a captivating story about a young wolf’s rand adventure. Mike listened with rapt attention, his eager eyes fixed on the pages as I spun the tale of bravery and exploration. By the time I reached the part where the little wolf found solace under the silvery glow of the moon, my son was already fast asleep.

“Would you tell me a story? My friend Dustin says his mom and dad tell him stories every night, but no one will tell me a story.” My heart melted hearing his request, and I smiled. “Of course, Liam. And you are in luck. I know so many stories.” I picked him up in my arms. “Really?” he said excitedly, burying his head in my neck, making me sigh in content. “Yay.” I tucked him into his bed. I began weaving a tale about a courageous knight who embarked on an epic adventure to save a kingdom from a fearsome dragon. Liam’s eyelids grew heavy as he listened to the tale, and soon he was fast asleep.

Bedtime. Usually, this was Aurora's domain. It was her sacred hour, the time when the CEO vanished and the "Maman" took over. She would read Goodnight Moon or The Little Prince, her voice a soft, rhythmic lullaby that chased away the dragons. But tonight, Liam stood in the doorway. He was wearing a simple gray t-shirt and sweatpants, his feet bare on the plush carpet. He held a book in his hand. Not a picture book. A chapter book.

I picked him off the floor and walked us to the bedroom. "Can't I stay up for five more minutes?" Adrian asked, his beautiful jade eyes shimmering in the glow of his Power Ranger night light. "No, baby, you have school tomorrow," I told him, getting into the bed beside him. "How about a bedtime story?" "Yes!" he squealed excitedly. I chuckled and brought out my phone. After a few pages of the children's book I'd saved on my Kindle, Adrian was fast asleep. Plugging my phone in, I settled beside him, stroking his dark hair away from his chubby face.

I said with a small laugh. The remaining nighttime was spent in bedtime routines and warm baths, in stories and toothbrushes. Mirabel insisted on one of Clinton’s old bedtime tales — something about a crocodile and a mango — and I fumbled my way through the story while they giggled under their covers. When they finally dozed off, I stayed a while longer in the hallway, just watching them sleep. Japheth curled toward the window. Jake, hugging his teddy. Mirabel, one leg dangling off the bed as if dreaming of her little bride walk.

The night was cold, and I feared they would catch a cold, but they began to cry out loud on the road. People began to stare, so I had gotten them the ice cream. When they got home, I prepared for them a nice warm shower, and dressed them, making them ready for bed. “I'm craving a bedtime story, Mommy.” Nadia said, as I tucked them in. “I'll tell you one tomorrow. I'm exhausted, okay? What do you think about two bedtime stories tomorrow?” I asked, as a bribe. “Oh yeah! I want Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty.”

Once setting the firewood in place, making the dark room glowed through the orange flame and prepared enough heat to keep the small cabin warm all through the night, she sat by his only son, making herself and her rounded belly comfortable in the soft bed. "My son, it is time to go to sleep. Now, what stories do you wish me to tell you? I have many already prepared for you. Is it about a king? Or how vampires or the werewolves come to exist? Or a princess who falls into a deep slip after being prick by a cursed needle? Which one would you like to hear, my love?" The young boy looked like he was thinking rather hard and his eyebrow scrunched, figuring what stories would be good. After a few m

"Mommy, can we read two stories tonight? Not just one?" I raised an eyebrow, fighting a smile. "Two stories? You're getting greedy, mister." "Please?" He deployed the full force of those brown eyes, the same ones I saw in the mirror every morning, now weaponized against me. "Okay, two stories," I conceded, already reaching for his current favorites. "But no more sneaky requests after that, deal?" "Deal!" He snuggled closer, small fingers tracing the illustrations as I read about dragons and knights, magical forests and brave adventurers. His commentary grew slower, sleepier, until finally, his breathing evened out against my shoulder.

Casey pouted and Annabella chuckled "Are you trying to bribe me?" She sat down on the bed, their heads on her laps "Please another story, then we will sleep" Alex said "Fine, why not??" "Yeee!" Casey and Alex screamed "So the title of our new bedtime story is Jack and the beanstalk" Annabella said "Wow,I've never heard about that" Casey said "Me too" Alex said "Then listen as I narrate to you"Annabella said and they both smiled, then she started
