Serenity had no certain desire to speak to Giovanni, but she felt she owed her mother an apology so with a sharp inhale she knocked on the door. “Come in.” Giovanni’s voice summoned and she pushed open the door. Both of her parents looked surprised to see her, but her mother quickly rose from her chair and ushered her in. “Come in, Mia Figlia. Would you like something to drink, I can get us all coffee?” She offered quickly. “No thanks, I actually wanted to talk to you.” She cast a wary glance at Giovanni who watched them. “Of course, you can talk to me about anything.” Her mother hurriedly took the seat beside her and turned to face her.

It was hard for the pity to have a solid ground, not when the burning heat had melted the same ground. With a soft thud, Mia slumped onto the door of the study room. Her gaze fell to the floor. “So you had never loved me? When we were in high school, you always carried me on your back to nurse when I was sick; that wasn’t love?” Her gaze was still fixed on the floor as though she were questioning it—maybe it was my reflection on the brown marbled floor. “And every time we hung out, and when I came to your apartment in school, you would let me sleep on your bed; it wasn’t love?” Her bloodshot eyes flickered to mine—narrowed and glaring.

Mia’s head was tilted slightly, her lips parted softly as she breathed. I approached them, and the first person I went to was Mia. She looked cute when she slept. Vulnerable. A side of her only I had seen years ago. I reached out my hand to touch her face, but she curled into the sofa like a little child, drawing Leo closer to her.

Mia's POV**************** My full name is Mia Miloslava Pankraz, and I'm 27 years old. After 3 years of struggling, I finally landed the job I'd dreamed of at LiveStrong, a prestigious company. Living in Harburg, I'd gotten used to the cold stares and whispers that followed me in the streets. My mother, Mathilda, used to be my world. But after my father’s death, everything changed. The maid add her hurry in other to collect a nice hug from her ma'am. They both hugs each other warmly, the maid congratulate Mia, because she start to reach to her lover that she had been in his poisonous love till many years ago. They were both surprise, Mia narrate her the best name that Lucas call her before he left.

“Why are you so blind, Robert? What does Mia have that’s blinded you so completely?” “I’m not blind. Loving someone isn’t blindness, Victoria.” She laughed—mocking and bitter. “If love meant anything, I wouldn’t be standing here with a shattered past and nothing to show for it.” “Just because you were scammed—twice—doesn’t mean love doesn’t exist.” “Love is a lie,” she hissed. “A beautiful illusion. Stacie was only two years older than Mia, at twenty four. "It went...well." Mia managed to say, dumping her folders and bag in a corner as she joined her friend and sat on the couch across from her.
