Chapter 38 - Gestures Lucas's pov As I predicted,I didn't get much sleep so I went for the next best thing…work. So here I was at my study trying to sort out files and deals with some bourbon in my hand while overlooking the city. Everything would have felt peaceful if not for the fact that my mind kept wandering back to Lucia. Hell,at this point it was clear that work was just a poor distraction and I groaned. Lucia's words were floating around in my head especially when she said couldn't trust me anymore. It hurt more than it should have…almost as much as a flesh wound.

I collapsed fully, unable to move, though my mind screamed at me to fight, to survive. Sarah stepped on my cheek, pressing my face deeper into the floor, adding to the pain, but I couldn't even react though I was dying inside. "This is what you get for thinking you could snatch away what's mine, Lucian is mine and now you and your bastard unborn child will be out of our life for good" She growled, dragging me by the legs and started dragging me away, my vision was fading slowly, and I could barely contain consciousness or comprehend were I was.

"I love you. Goodnight." The call ended. Lucia sat with the phone in her lap and stared at the wall looking sullen. If only she had power to disappear and appear, she would quickly disappear to Alex place and come back without Diego knowing. She lay back on the bed and closed her eyes but sleep did not. She later fell asleep, somewhere between thinking about Alex's voice and trying not to think about Diego's eyes at the dinner table. --- She woke up hearing a voice. It was quite low but sounded urgent and it was coming from somewhere down the hall.

"Diana, are you looking for Lucius? He's busy right now. He was just having the time of his life in my bed." I said nothing and ended the call. Less than a minute later, Lucius himself dialed back. He had his arm around Lucy, whose eyes were red as if she'd been wronged, as he tore into me for being so stupid. "What right does a useless she-wolf like you, who can't even protect my heir, have to be my Luna?" he had said. Pulling myself back to the present, I tried to take a detour to avoid them, but Lucius spotted me and marched over, his face darkening.

The air inside was stale and her scent barely hangs in the air. I pressed my face to her pillow, desperate to find something, anything, but it was fading. When I opened my eyes again, the world had changed. The bed was gone and in its place I saw a ring of fire. Lucia knelt in the middle, her wrists were bound and she was bleeding slightly from the mark on her neck. A man stood beyond the flames, tall, calm, eyes like molten gold.
