The color drained from her face, like she had just seen a ghost. Kael noticed. “What is it?” Selina didn’t answer, she couldn’t because she was staring at someone. Someone standing inside the room. Someone she had not expected to see. The parchment slipped from her fingers. And when Lyra followed her gaze her blood turned cold. Because whoever Selina had identified as the traitor… was already standing among them.

I turned to go back inside, steeling myself for whatever came next. But the door flew open before I could touch it. Sabrina stood there in a silk robe, her eyes gleaming with anger. "What are you doing out here?" she snapped. My heart raced. "I’m sorry, my Luna," I said, bowing my head low. "I needed the loo. I was just returning." She crossed her arms. "The instruction was that you remain inside until the mating was over. Are you always this disobedient and incompetent?" I shook my head, my voice low and rueful. "No, my Luna. I didn’t mean to disobey. It won’t happen again. Please... forgive me."

What would we do then? "You think Lucian would abandon his Luna for you?" Roxanne shouted angrily. Seraphina coughed weakly several times. Suddenly, she collapsed to the ground like a falling leaf, only to be caught by Lucian, who came running. "Luke, I only wanted to offer Luna my blessings. My body's just too frail," she said weakly. Before leaving, Lucian looked at me with disappointment. "You're about to become Luna. You need to learn to care for pack members. Don't bring those bad human habits into the pack."

But I wiped it a few more times on the back of my shorts to make sure it wasn't wet with sweat. "I'm Robin Serrano. N-nice to see you," I stammered. He looked at my hand which was still slightly trembling. I slightly panicked. "Aristotle Lecaroz," he introduced himself before reaching for my hand. Damon nodded along with Lucian, both wearing small smiles. “You’re done training?” Robin asked, eyeing Lucian. Lucian nodded. “Did the best I could given the time we had, so yeah. So, this guy touched me just for his own pleasure, because he already had that snobbish woman as his partner. "Do you want some bread, perhaps? You look really pale and unhealthy," Rutherford said, ignoring the cold tone in my voice.

"You know her too?" Lucien's steps slowed slightly before he spoke again. "She's my ex-wife." Martin didn't react with any surprise. He simply nodded. "Oh." Lucien's gaze shifted again. "And the man next to her? You know him too?" "Man?" Martin followed Lucien's line of sight—only to see Gina pinching Cynthia's cheek playfully.
