This room was specifically designed to monitor the formidable dragons. Behind a large and secure glass window, they could behold a clear view of the chamber. A tense exchange of glances unfolded among Lucian, Lazarus and Ezra as they peered through the window, their eyes filled with apprehension, while they anxiously observed Caden.

It was deliberately hidden in plain sight, blending in with the rest of his office. I scanned the titles again, my mind racing. Was this connected to the slaves? To the strange way he’d been monitoring them lately? I pulled another book from the shelf, this one titled Lunar Legends and Their Secrets. As I flipped through it, a piece of paper fell out and fluttered to the ground. I bent down, picking it up carefully. It was a handwritten note, the ink smudged but still legible: "Potential Moonbound Wolves. Monitor closely. Signs: delayed shifts, heightened instincts, unexplained resilience."

It was a perfectly logical question. Luci turned the lights on in the adequately dim room. The palace was so far below the sea that it made it hard for the light sources to penetrate this far. Much bioluminescent lighting lit the area of the gardens, along with torches in the rooms. “Uriel, asking him that was unwise,” Luci loosened up the collar of his dress shirt, pulling the tie from his shirt. His fingers threaded it through, causing me to watch it intently how he wrapped it around his fingers.

Elena watched patterns, understanding how favour and fear balanced in shadow economies. "Lot seventeen," the auctioneer announced. "Information on Project Moonfall—government program targeting supernatural communities. Bidding opens at fifty million or equivalent exchange." Elena's enhanced hearing caught accelerated heartbeats. Several supernaturals leaned forward, personal stakes obvious. She recognized opportunity. "PhantomByte offers alternative," she announced. "Not purchase, but trade. I'll decrypt and distribute Project Moonfall freely in exchange for collective favour…one minor assistance from everyone here, callable within five years."

Isolde sat at her right, posture perfect, while Cassia lounged at her left, legs crossed, nails painted the color of fresh blood. Selina’s gaze tracked me the moment I entered, that slow predator’s appraisal I had never liked. She leaned forward, all teeth and poison, her voice sweet enough to rot. “If you plan to do something about your little fascination, Lucien, I suggest you hurry,” she said. “Our dear Caelum seems to be making excellent use of the Hunter’s Moon. You do know what that means, do you not?” My fingers curled against the armrest of the nearest chair before I even sat. She wanted me to ask. She wanted me to give her the satisfaction.

Then Luca suddenly laughed. A burst of blinding golden and crimson light erupted from the baby. The entire sky went silent. Even God looked shocked. Lucifer’s eyes widened. Luke whispered under his breath, “…what the hell?” The baby in Lily’s arms floated slightly into the air. Power swirling around him like a tiny star. And then— Luca opened his glowing eyes. In his penthouse that night, Lucian pours himself a drink. He doesn't check his phone. He doesn't call Elias. He doesn't move. Only his reflection in the window betrays the truth ...a flicker of pain that tightens his chest, then fades beneath the weight of his pride. The blonde, Sarah, starts before the dark haired girl, Mariah, nudges her and she immediately shuts up. "Took over?" Rei latches on to the blonde slip up. "Indeed, perhaps this Calista took on the Alpha's role fully for her father. No wonder she's causing difficulties already, she must think I'm taking her position." I reply to Rei, watching as the group in front of me shift nervously, clearly mindlinking one another. Something I won't be able to do until the new Alpha ceremony during the next full moon.
