“So you were looking out for him, too, huh?’ Lucy said, smiling wickedly at me when I turned back to her. “I… don’t know why he’s always coming back.” “Who cares?!” she whispered, giggling. “He’s exciting and he makes our nights livelier here. Go! I’ll serve Mr. Hotness without pay if he asks me to—job or no job!” I couldn’t help but smile at the lecherous grin on the older woman’s face. Lucy is sweet and always out to play cupid on anybody she cares about. “Okay. If Mr. Langdon thinks it’s okay, I’ll do it. I’ll just finish this one.”

I pleaded, holding tighter to the older woman's hands. It could be attraction, something I'd ruled out or maybe even lust but to me, in my mind it was stronger than that. Faye smiled softly at me and raised her hand to pat my cheek, her wet fingers leaving some little soap my mocha skin. "All in due time Lucy," she said. "You know what it is but you're ignoring it but it takes time. At some point, you are going to accept it then scream it out to the world for all to hear. She replied. “That's great.” Lucy smiled. “You are right. I do too much to live like this.” She said sadly. “Are you now going to tell me what is going on? What is really happening, Lucy… Talk to me, please.” Amelia begged. “Do you still think you cannot trust me?” She asked quietly, her eyes searching Lucy's. “There are things I need to tell you,” Lucy said, her tone firm, but her fingers betrayed her. They tapped restlessly against the table. She pulled her hands under the table and kept a straight face to hide her fears and pounding heart.

“And no man is ever with you again. I possess all of you.” Lucy tilts her head. “You already established that fact when you reminded me I didn’t belong to your father anymore,” she says shyly. I spank her. She yelps, then giggles. “And Luce?” I say. Horror flashes in her eyes. “I don’t like Luce.” She blurts. I study her. There’s something under that. Something she needs to say later. “Noted, Lucy.” I correct. Surprise and apology flicker across her face. I lean in and kiss her.

She was the only woman who possessed all my thoughts and heart. I thought of her every moment and every second of my life. It was difficult to look at Sasha and not wish I hadn’t ruined my marriage with Alisha. “You can’t break up with me. Not now, Lucius. I am pregnant with your child, and I won’t be a single mother unless you want me to abort this baby.” I thought of Ophelia’s words when she said that my mother and sister wanted to bring my brother to New York because I didn’t have any kids.

“Long story. But listen, if Barry lets you breathe near him, it’s because he wants to.” Lucy looked down at her melting ice cream. “Well… I don’t know what to do with that.” She said calmly. “You don’t have to do anything,” Julia said with a shrug. “Just… wear that pink lingerie when you feel like it.” She smiled. Lucy laughed, shaking her head. “You’re unbelievable.” She muttered. “I try to be.” Julia said. They finished their ice cream, still laughing. For the first time in weeks, Lucy felt… light. Like maybe, just maybe, this crazy new life wasn’t all bad like she had thought.

I hated that my heart beat faster just thinking about him. Lara stirred in my head again. Her voice wasn’t mocking this time. "He didn’t have to defend you like that, Lucia... but he did. And you felt it too, didn’t you? The way he held you... It wasn’t just lust. There was more. You know it." "Stop," I muttered. "You're scared," she added softly. "You're scared to believe it could be real."

“You’re calling him Ethan more comfortably now. Girl… what’s going on?” I gave her a long, dry stare. “Hey… He’s still my enemy. I haven’t forgiven him for humiliating me back then.” “You said you haven’t not you can’t. That means there’s hope.” She smirked and stood up, winking like some rom-com fairy godmother. I rolled my eyes. Lucy had a dangerous gift—she could tease someone to tears and still make it sound like a compliment. But as I sat there trying to laugh it off, my thoughts turned serious again.

Jax was shaking his head. Lucy was just laughing but I could see the tears falling. Reaching down, I swiped them away. “We will be here for you, Lucy. You know that. We couldn’t be happier for you and Felix.” She nodded and looked down, her hands pressing on her stomach. “The doctor said it’s going to be a little girl. I just…” Her eyes looked into mine. “You’re taking Felix with you if there is going to be a battle, aren’t you?”
