And at her feet, Leo, in his little tuxedo, was making a face at the man he called “Daddy.”
The child who carried half my blood, smiling like an angel.
The photo was a shard of glass in my gut. Beautiful and deadly, twisting with every breath I took.
“A cigarette.”
I stared at the photo, devouring every detail.
“But the doctor said your lungs…”
“Give it to me.”
My tone left no room for argument.
Luca sighed, lit a cigarette, and placed it between my lips.
I took a deep drag.
