He looked as though he had just seen a ghost. “Thanks to your incompetence, Elder Bathsheba and the collective failure of the council, no one ever thought to question the former Alpha’s death,” Luke continued, his tone sharp, deliberate. “But after staying hidden for nearly a month, I was able to gather everything I needed… with the help of a certain friendly Alpha.” He gestured toward the chained men. ‘Friendly Alpha?’ Ashley’s senses sharpened instantly, curiosity sparking. Scene 3 – Preparing for the Journey The night before their departure, Eve sat alone in her chambers, staring at the flickering candlelight. I mumbled. "You can't do so unless you want to break the law," Luke smiled. "Let me show you around first." I followed him as he showed me a lot of rooms, like the kitchen, the library, the hall, and my master's office. "What about the room behind this door?" I pointed to a giant golden door on the other side of the hall. "Oh, you must never go there. These are Elijah's brother's chambers." Luke said. "He has a brother?" Luke nodded. "A younger brother called Levi. The perfect opposite of Elijah."
