“That’s not funny, Lara.”
She tried to stifle her laugh. “I know, I know. But seriously, what did you do?”
I didn’t answer right away. I looked at the window instead, the sunlight sneaking through the blinds. “I didn’t do anything. It just happened. She called me names, said things she shouldn’t have said, and then… something in me snapped. The power took over before I could stop it.”
Lara’s smile slowly faded. “Nora, you scared everyone. Even the guards were talking about how the air changed. They said it felt like two energies fighting.”
