The Luna in Me
He always saw everything.
“Ohhh,” he exhaled, delighted, “there she is.”
His fingers angled my face up slightly, forcing me to let the tear run down my cheek unobstructed.
“Don’t hide that from me,” he murmured. “Your tears are the most honest thing about you.”
Another tear fell. This time a small, broken sound slipped out of me. A sob. Barely audible. He inhaled sharply, like the sound was something he could taste.
“Good girl,” he whispered, voice soaked in satisfaction. “Let your body fail. That’s part of your purpose.”
