He spoke to her, and actually amused and annoyed by that statement, Avelina turned to look at him with displeasure in her eyes. "I don't think you should make such a statement, Mr. Lucian Zvetch. You are the world's richest man, and therefore you get anything you desire just because you ask for it. Remember that you acquired me like that. You took me like an object from your shelf." She spoke with gritted teeth, and Lucian gazed at her, not able to comprehend why she was thinking like that.

"About Alex's offer…" My gaze darted away from his, a flicker of indecision clouding my eyes. Alex's offer of a fresh start in Paris had seemed like a welcome escape hatch just moments ago.
