Shapes emerged from the shadows - beasts like the one they had fought at the last altar, their eyes burning with unnatural light.
“Here we go again,” Dylan muttered, drawing his blade.
But before the beasts could attack, a voice rang out, smooth and taunting.
“Welcome, my dear Nicola. I’ve been expecting you.”
Lyra materialized at the base of the obelisk, her dark hair flowing like a living shadow. Her presence radiated power, and her eyes gleamed with a dangerous light.
“Lyra,” Nicola said, her voice steady despite the fear churning in her gut. “It’s over. We know what you’re doing, and we’re going to stop you.”
