“It's really good. Try yours. ” She watched as Anabelle bit into her apple and had the same reaction as her, raising one brow. Because her mouth was full of apple, Anabelle simply nodded, agreeing with Mira. As they polished off those initial apples, Mira had the idea to dip them in some honey. She had gotten honey from the honeycombs made by the bees that lived in her parents' tree, and it added a nice sweetness to the apple. She remembered something, and she turned to Anabelle to ask her a question.

She had been crying. I remembered that. Her makeup was ruined. Her hands were shaking. She kept asking me the same question. Over and over. Please. I closed my eyes. The memory became clearer. Mary saw some benches in that direction and went over to them, followed by Tenac. “Thank you” she said as he handed her the cup with the honeycomb. She smelled the liquid. It smelled like nothing she had smelled before. A bitter, rich, smell with a hint of honey. She sipped it and couldn’t quite decide if she liked it or not.

Wondering what he was up to, I left the dishes and walked closer. Hogan got a large bowl and a mud pot above the cabinet. He opened the pot and poured the orange sticky liquid into the bowl. ‘Is that honey?’ “What are you going to do with honey?” I asked. Hogan raised his hand. “Give me your hands.” My hands? I looked at my hands before I slowly reached them out to Hogan. Suddenly, Hogan grabbed them and soaked them in a bowl of honey. “Ahhh,” I winced in pain. I shut one eye, bearing with the pain until I gradually became accustomed to it. Breathing heavily, I watched how Hogan kept my hands soaked with honey.
