It was over between us. Magnus took my breath away. A white blouse shirt featuring lace detailing at the throat was part of his attire, complemented by black pants and high boots. "By the time they breach the gates, I will be immortal, and you will be a husk."

He wore a heavy coat made of thick bear fur and his chest was covered in silver scars; the marks of ancient battles with the Council's elite Enforcers. This was Alpha Magnus, the leader of the northern blood-wolves. Magnus walked slowly down the path, his heavy boots made deep thuds in the mud.
