Magnus’ breathing turned ragged, his entire body trembling as he dug his fingers into his temples. His chest rose and fell in sharp, erratic movements, as though he was fighting something—something clawing to break free.
“Magnus?” Frederick stepped closer, cautious but firm. “Talk to me.”
Magnus’ head snapped up. His eyes—dark, unfocused—locked onto Frederick, and for a split second, there was no recognition. No warmth. Just something wrong.
