Haldor nods. “Or any kind of human blood somewhere in their line. They are severely inbred.”
“Bryce showed no signs of inbreeding,” I say.
“It’s mental, Queen,” Haldor says, his voice carrying a new weight. “Their evil becomes worse with each generation. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a descendant of Beauregard himself. Or he might be Beuaregard’s ancestor for all we know.”
