Mila’s POV “Any news on Malia?” I asked my maid. "Nothing, your majesty,” she bowed. "Oh, Malia, where could you be?" I flopped down on the bed and let out a deep sigh. The spell was to be done, but Malia has been absent. She was supposed to be here. Did the Alpha of the Nexton pack find out? Was she in trouble? A million thoughts ran through my mind. “What of the werewolf, the one that was sent to kill her?” I asked.

"So, if I were you, better shut off your mouth once and for all." So, I led the trek heading to Joshua's house to get my purpose done of visiting the island. In the middle of our trekking to Joshua's house, Jasper's worries and fears are leaving their marks. If his bothering expression will not ease off, anyone could have sensed it. Good thing if it will be one of those werewolves on the island, but what if it's a monster? But the one thing that surprised me the most was Malia's very calm expression. Never hear her heartbeats speed up or slowed down. They remained steady as though she knew something we don't.

"Daddy, what’s all this?" Miriam shouted as she pointed at the large flat-screen television mounted on the far wall of the living room. Her finger trembled slightly, as her voice became sharp, almost breathless with disbelief. On the screen, the moment played again, bold and vivid in high definition. Ethan Malcovich stood in a well-cut navy-blue suit beside his father, Norman Malcovich, at a lavish gala. Spotlights flickered like stars across the crowd, camera flashes popping every second. And right there in the center, Ethan reached out for Aria’s hand, and said the words that made the room erupt.

Her voice reassuring as ever, but I knew better than to trust it. "My head still hurts like hell," I admitted, wincing at the memory of the pain. "But overall, I'm feeling...alive, I guess." The words tasted bitter on my tongue. “Well, I'm glad to hear that Miss Malloy.” Her voice made it hard to decipher her emotions. I shot her a confused look before noticing Doctor Betty's shift in expression, her eyes clouding with a somber intensity. "Miss Malloy, I promised to investigate your family's status. I'm afraid I have some difficult news to share."

Gerard angrily shouts down from his throne, "Are your fingers making that call to Derek Hale yet?!" Malia's face is already completely drained of all color, her mouth filled with the hot, metallic taste of her own blood fluid. Even so, she stands her ground on her knees, weakly shaking her head from side to side. "No... my mouth won't let Derek walk straight into a... lethal death trap because of my mistake. Your rogue pack might as well... give up!"

But like me, it paralyzed them to see Kalama in the arms of Remus and being teleported away from us, taken to Gods know where. We were all screaming as we witnessed Kalama being kidnapped. All hope now lost, they will kill her, the others will be found and without Kalama they wouldn’t stand a chance. We were all in disbelief, I was still half on the floor, half on my knees, Masi was like frozen mid stride with her arms outstretched as if to grab someone, and Finn just stood there not moving at all. “We need to do something, now!” The sharp voice of Masi broke the paralyzing enchantment that had me in its grip. I turned to look at her and she was pacing, rubbing her hands together.

“No, the problem is you keep showing up in my life talking in pieces. I need full sentences, Malik. Not riddles.” He nodded like he understood. But then he said something that made my stomach drop. “Five years ago,” he started, “there was an incident. And I made choices after that to make sure you stayed away from it.” My voice lowered. “What kind of incident?” He hesitated. That hesitation told me everything I needed to know. “Malik…” I warned. He finally looked away. “A death,” he said. The room went silent so fast I could hear my own heartbeat.

He had nothing to be ashamed of and, right now, he didn’t give a fuck who saw him. “You get that thing out of my sight,” David said. “Enough,” Joe said. “You think you can come onto our land with that … whatever the hell that thing is and what, think this is all going to be okay? My mate is missing trying to clean up your mess.” Mika burst out of the house, her volatile energy palpable. “Where the fuck is my sister?” “Enough!” This came from Caleb. David turned toward his alpha and glared. This was not fucking fair.

Though unliked, maybe hated even, I was still the Lycan’s flesh and blood. But how I wished for it to be otherwise. With a few quick strides, I returned to my seat. Just as I turned and was about to sit, a flustered figure dashed into the hall and kneeled into a bow. “Lycan Heir, Lady Malivik is back. She…she’s covered in blood!” A growl of rage erupted from my throat. I sprung to my feet and dashed out of the hall, discarding all decorum. Saira was back. Covered in blood.
