Malaika
Yulli’s aroma of fresh mint soothed her nose.
“There, don’t focus on these elves. A day will come they’d worship you,” Yulli joked, but Malaika did not find it funny.
“Look at that!” Malaika pointed out a series of colorful star lanterns.
The two studied each design. Yulli had given the vendor payment, one gold coin, and then he chose the red color lantern that shone the most. “I’ll take that.”
The vendor handed the lantern before Malaika could refuse. “It seemed your father had given you a lot of money for this trip. I wonder how he will react if he finds out you were forced to stay here with me.”
