My hand flew to my mouth, and my legs went weak beneath me, trembling like jelly. My flashlight beam caught something pale and stiff in the corner, but my brain refused to process it. The smell hit me a second later sweet and wrong, like meat left too long in the sun. “Don’t come in,” Malcolm ordered, his voice flat and cold in a way I’d never heard before.
