I caught it by the handle, the blade halting inches from my cheek. The silence let me enjoy the weight of it in my hand... well-balanced, sharp, wrapped in weathered leather. I striped of my shorts and pj top and got into immediately stretched out hands pulling me into the steamy jets. “Ouch!” I shouted looking around at my right hip just above my ass was my mating mark. I paced around the room, trying to get myself and my thoughts together. "What would I do now? What am I supposed to do? What was I going to tell my dad or mom? This is fucked up!" I murmured, running my fingers through my hair. I went back to the mirror to get a good look at the mark. The mark was beautifully tattooed on my neck. It was a picture of a half-crescent moon and a large black wolf staring at it; its mouth opened as if it was howling at it. It was beautiful, and it complimented my skin. I knew the mate-bound was already strengthened. There was nothing that could break it anymore.

"They're not rogues. The symbol on his left arm—it's from a northern pack." I followed his gaze and noticed a tattoo—a black 'S' with a small crescent moon in the center. "Do they have pack symbols tattooed?" I whispered, and the man was still engrossed in conversation with his companions, not looking directly at us, but his attention seemed focused on me. "Yes, but on my left chest." I shifted my gaze to him. "What does it look like?" My fear from moments before had dissipated, perhaps because having him beside me eased my trembling heart.

I couldn’t focus on what he was saying at all, my attention completely stolen by his bare chest. I couldn’t help but notice the armband tattoo on his left arm. The word “Moretti” was inked in a beautiful Old English font, with detailed lines making it look even cooler. His tattoos just added to that tough, masculine vibe he had going on. Then I saw the tattoo on his back. A raven, placed right in the middle of his back, near his shoulders and neck. It was so well done, I couldn’t stop staring at it, totally impressed.

So I let my eyes drop, gazed at the curve of his neck, where the edge of another tattoo peeked out from beneath his collarbone. It was small compared to the phoenix on his back... just a black ink, looking simple yet beautiful. Again... my hand moved on its own, my fingertips traced the dark lines that were on his pale skin. He shuddered quietly under my touch, a quiet sound escaping his throat... which was part breath, part reaction. “Is this… a compass?” I whispered, my voice came out soft, as if the wrong tone could make him vanish. “Yeah,” he said finally, smiling slightly, strangely calm. “ This one was on my 17th birthday. You need to respect that.” I was in the bathroom inspecting this beautiful mark that had appeared on my neck, chest, back, and over my shoulder. Four wolves, a crescent moon, eye of Horus, the Sphinx, Great Pyramids, and a bat. The moon and the bat had a light blue outline, the Sphinx, and pyramids were outlined in gold. It was magnificent.
