MAY

MAY

May's red from lipstick lips pressed downwards, her brows drew in quizzically and her palms opened in confusion, "I don't understand." "There must be a reason. Tell me, is it because of a man?" Face palming herself, May shook her head sideways, feeling slightly embarrassed by Mama Edric's questions. Mama used her finger to raise May's chin up so that she was going to look into her eyes, "May, do you love Tega?" "Mama," May drawled hesitantly, finding it hard to get the reasons to why mama Edric would ask such questions. It was weird especially since the fact that they had never sat down and discussed something close to this before.

The Dream Elixir
This book was beautifully written and I enjoyed it so very much. It made me feel so many things and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the while because I really wanted the best for May. I felt so much anger towards Edric, uncertainty towards Tega, and love for Edric. definitely insightful

Nice book. I love how it treats domestic issues prevalent in a lot of Nigerian homes. I also love how the book doesn't glamorize abuse like other pics I've read in this genre. Seeing as the author is a girl from Bayelsa, it gives me joy that she adds elements of her background in the story.

The Best Friend's Contract

The Best Friend's Contract

I turn towards Kenna, seeing her taking a bite of the baked chicken but both of her eyes are zoning out into a blank space; causing me to frown. Slowly leaning closer towards her, ''Are you okay?'' I ask. My warm breath hitting down her jawline which causes her to slightly turn towards me—leaving me to lean back, giving her some space instead but as she turns to look at my family, they're all currently looking at us. ''Does it . . . tastes bad?'' Mother asks, somehow concerned. Kenna shakes her head with a smile plastered on her face, ''No! No, of course not. Why would it taste bad? It tastes great,'' She replies.

Reborn Through Fire

Reborn Through Fire

She patted Ada's head and said lowly, "I was backing you up; that's why I lied about being your mummy. You should continue calling me Ma'am in the future." Ada's smile fell instantly. She pouted and said aggrievedly, "Why don't you want to be my mommy? Do you not like me?" "Certainly not," Kisa smiled while wiping away the tears on Ada's face. She said softly, "Of course I like you. It's just that I can't be your mom." "Why is that?" Ada frowned at her. She could not understand why Kisa refused to be her mom if she liked her. Kisa felt resigned and said, "Because I'm not the person who birthed and raised you. What'll happen to your real mom when she returns? Wouldn't she be sad when she find

If they want to take revenge on my father, why didn't they kill my mom and me? Furthermore, why did they want my mother to suffer?" Kath, My Luna

Kath, My Luna

“Kenneth, Keenan… you two are very mature. Aunty is truly amazed by you both. Your mother is fine. And the reason she has sudden work there is because she’s teaching something.” “Oh! Like how she teaches us!” Kenneth and Keenan replied cheerfully, clapping their hands. “Exactly, until you both become as smart as you are now.” Bella smiled warmly, though inside she felt uneasy. She had no idea where Ale was; Ale only ever said she was fine. And until now, Bella could no longer mindlink Ale, Ale had vanished without a trace. “Who else would teach us besides Mother? We don’t have a father.” Bella froze at Keenan’s innocent words. Kenneth nudged Keenan’s arm.

“It remembers, it holds on to things that happened before we were born.” Miranda stepped closer. “What did it remember?” Kenny shrugged. “Before.” “Before what?” i asked. “Before it broke,” he said. Silence fell hard around us. “That is enough,” I said softly, reaching out to pull his hand away from the dirt. Kenny frowned, looking hurt. “Did I do something bad mama?” “No,” I said immediately. “You did nothing bad, you could never do anything bad." “Then why are you shaking?” he asked.

TRAPPED WITH THE MAFIA BOSS

TRAPPED WITH THE MAFIA BOSS

"Can you tell me what this is, Mama? It’s a…?" Mama’s eyes flickered to the card, her lips parting slightly. "…Apple," she whispered, her voice barely audible. The therapist smiled warmly. "That’s right! An apple. Excellent, Mama." In another corner of the room, a cognitive therapist worked on memory exercises, using familiar objects and scents to trigger recall. The process was slow, painstaking, but there were moments—tiny flickers of recognition—that gave the team hope. Mama’s journey was far from over, but they were committed to helping her reclaim as much of her life as possible.
