The witches lost all of their written manuscripts centuries ago.” He looks at her waiting, Dan still stood on guard.

The bartender’s eyes immediately glazed over before it returned to its original state. Perfect. “I am here for a necromancy spellbook,” I stated before I pulled out an envelope full of cash. The bartender nodded and walked away. I guess I am supposed to follow him now. Shortly after he walked away, I followed him, and we came upon a library full of dusty old books. There was a magical block in front of the books which prevents anyone from just walking in and taking them. These books are usually cursed and upon successfully stealing them, you are then possessed by a force that makes you return the object. Upon returning it, you will be prosecuted indefinitely.

the man said to the professor. "I obey your will master," the professor acquiesced. "Take this book as well," the man said smiling at the professor. "What is this book for, master?" the professor queried. It was a thick book with golden engravings on it that shines and changes at random, as if enchanted. It's a magical book, thought the professor. "It's a book on how to become an immortal. Spread that among my followers. Do not fail me, slave," the man said gravely. "As you wish master!" the professor's hand was trembling as he held the book on his hands.

The cover felt strangely warm under his fingertips, bound in what his wolf recognized immediately as wolfskin. This should disgust me, he thought. But his hands were already opening the book. The first page bore a warning in faded ink: "Beware the bond that cannot be broken, for it will remake both hunter and hunted." Nathan's pulse hammered in his throat. He shouldn't be here. He should— A floorboard creaked upstairs. Nathan snapped the book shut and tucked it under his arm. Decision made. He'd steal it if he had to. Whatever this was, he needed to know.

… On the other hand, James had moved into a new room on another spiritual mountain. He took out a book with a clean and dark red cover. It was the Blood Mantra that Thea had given him. As he carefully flipped to the first page of the book, James could see lines of strange and mysterious inscriptions on that page. Just then, those inscriptions appeared to move and float in the air. Soon enough, words in a foreign script began to form before James’ eyes. James was the only person who could see those words since he was holding the book. If someone were to walk in on James now, they would only see that James’ eyes were glowing with an eerie, blood-red light at that moment.

But relaxation wasn't what I had in mind. I stood up and walked over to the bookshelf, running my fingers along the spines of the books until I found what I was looking for. The worn leather-bound volume felt heavy in my hands as I carried it over to the coffee table and opened it to the marked page. The intricate illustrations of whips, chains, and other BDSM paraphernalia made my pulse quicken with anticipation.

I scanned the books with my eyes and found myself reading the names that were painted on the spines of the books. Glenda Macon, Gregory Marsh, Gwyn Masters… Each book had a name embroidered on the spine. The books were all black, with names in a flat white. Very few books actually looked different from the others. The one named, Glenda Macon, had a rose with thorns dancing along the cover. I even noticed one that was a shade of slate grey.
