I laced my left hand with his, lifting in on my lips, kissing his wedding band, “together, remember?”
Xavier heaved a heavy breath, letting it out. It was so cold, as if it came from the depths of his soul. He interlaced his fingers with mine, dragging me to the nearest room, locking the door before letting my hand go.
The room we were in was practically bare of anything other than peeling wallpapers, run down by time.
“The manor is a trick,” he began, walking towards the window, looking over the men assembling on the front lawn of the house. When we arrived, those cars weren’t there; all men dressed in their battle attire faces void of emotions.
