Aggie says, staring down at my baby with adoring eyes. Gray eyes? The baby's eyes are blue. I stared into them for so long this morning, I know what color eyes my child has. I look at Cash. He smiles at me in return. “He is a changeling.” A what? “A changeling. Fairy babies have there own special powers. Long ago fairies would steal human babies and leave orphaned fairy children in their place. The fairy children would take on the appearance of the human so no one would notice.” That is horrible. Why would they do such a thing as steal human babies?

Nathaniel asked in awe. "Fairy Warrior." "Well, for a second there, I thought your fairy friend was like Tinker Bell, but I was wrong, so wrong indeed," Nathaniel added, dismayed. The Fairy Warrior had no wings, and neither were they tiny? Just like in the fairy villages, these Fairy Sisters were massive and had a luminous flow into them. Their hair was so long and bright, their ears pointy in different colors. Nathaniel thought they looked rather like Amazonian warriors, unlike the Hollywood version he'd expected, and they were more humanlike but also had a natural sunny glow and neon-yellow hair the bright hue of a newborn petal. The world was a canvas of wonder, and the forest seemed to pulse with secrets. It was then that the Daryad fairy, a delicate ethereal being with wings adorned in glistening dewdrops, appeared before Ava. The fairy's presence was both enchanting and comforting, a guardian spirit in the moonlit haven. I lifted my shirt, revealing the jagged scars crisscrossing my abdomen. “Have you forgotten these? What about the justice you promised me back then?” Sienna fell silent. Suddenly, she snatched the scalpel from the doctor’s tray and drove it hard into her own palm. Her movements were so fast that no one could react in time. Warm blood spattered across my face. The coppery smell was sharp in the air. She held her hand, blood pouring from it, and stared at me. “Is this enough? Does this make it fair?”

The fire fairy, a figure of flickering flames and intense eyes, stepped forward with a resigned sigh. “Since you’re here, we must explain the rules of the Chosen Lady. First, you are considered holy and must guard against any impure thoughts. Second, you are expected to assist people and nations in times of crisis. Third, you must foster harmony between humans and the supernatural.” The water fairy, with a serene, flowing demeanor, added, “There are additional minor rules, which we will disclose as needed.”
