Flavius wades through the crowd of dragons until he comes upon a SpitFire much smaller than the rest. Her scales are a brilliant lilac compared to the deep violet of the other SpitFires. She slowly approaches Flavius sniffing his outstretched hand. Flavius uncurls his fingers, reaching for her head. In one swift movement, her jaws snap down on Flavius's hand. He lets out a yelp of surprise but does not try to pull his hand away. Blood drips from the mouth of the small SpitFire. She makes no move to rip Flavius's arm off, which is a good sign.

A strange pull at my senses made me turn. There, kneeling in the rubble near the shattered gates, was the boy - Adrian. Mara's brother. Up close, the resemblance was uncanny... the same stubborn set to his narrow jaw, the same arch to his brows. But where Mara burned bright as a torch, this boy was like candlelight, his power a twisted, broken thing. His milk-white eyes stared through me, unseeing, unblinking. A rogue lunged for his exposed back, its jaws gaping wide before Laziel slashed through it on the firm edge of his blade, herding more of our wolves under cover.

One of them dipped his hand in his pocket and brought out a white handkerchief for some reason, he kept on trying to get it close to Mara's face but she kept on rotating her head like a standing fan and she slowly reached into her pocket to bring out a small, flat perfume bottle only to spray both of them in the face. "Ahh!" They both yelped in pain and rubbed their eyes. "Next time when you try to kidnap someone, make sure you know the right tactics" Mara picked up a stick which was beside her and began to beat them both before she ran away. They couldn't see for almost 15 minutes and Mara had already gotten too far from their reach, with all their bruises they managed to get themselves off

With Mum out of my room I feel a tiny bit brighter, although not much. I slide my legs into my bedroom slippers, standing up i nearly dropped to the floor. My legs feels like jelly, my body still recuperating from the aftereffects of my horror night.

“And that it not going to happen if you are all fighting like a bunch of rats in some pod.” His expression shifted. Nathan glanced at me, curious but not surprised. “Marcel is unstable,” I continued quietly. “Dominic stands between him and destruction. The council is restless. Rogues are hungry. Packs are divided. And as far as the rumor goes, your little rogue has managed to contain a beast that would be more than willing to take over if Marcel simply ticked.” I stepped closer, my voice lowering. “All it takes is one thread to snap… and everything unravels.”

“That sounds like joining something.” Mara shrugged. “Maybe I already did.” She hesitated, then stepped forward and pressed a small data shard into Aiden’s hand. “Dead routes,” she said. “Places the network pretends don’t exist.” Aiden closed his fingers around it. “Thank you.” Mara nodded once—and walked away without looking back.
