Nate whispered. I calmed on his shoulder for a moment to take in my surroundings as we entered the most surreal foyer I had ever seen. The cream marble floor was beautiful, it had been freshly polished and I swore I could see my reflection in it. It looked brand new, although I knew it wasn’t.

Not even the steady rhythm of his breath against my skin mattered in that moment. “Do you like it?” he asked finally, his voice laced with hesitation. “Is that supposed to be a question?” My words were half awe, half disbelief. I lowered my gaze, only to be ensnared again—this time by the ground beneath me. The floor was a sheet of black marble, vast and pristine, its crystalline swirls glinting like tiny galaxies under the chandelier’s glow. Pearlescent streaks curled across the stone like constellations caught in a frozen tide. I almost wanted to kneel, to press my palms to it, to marvel at the artistry beneath my feet.

"Alright then, we shall proceed." Following Mrs. Catrin, our heels produced a distinctive clanking sound against the opulent marble flooring, echoing in the expansive space.
