I sighed audibly and heard another cry of the phoenix. I guess this is the start of my journey.

One year later, the FS Phoenix building stood as the sharpest needle in the city’s skyline, a monument of glass and steel that seemed to pierce the clouds. I gave my pack a weak smile reassuring them I was fine now and stayed focused on our Alpha. "I know you are all wondering why were are here tonight as we, the Blue Moon pack, don't do many of these pack meetings. We are a peaceful small pack after all." The crowd cheered at our Alphas words. "But being so small we need alliances so we have agreed with the Midnight Warrior pack to help them with anything for their alliance as they are the largest Warrior pack in the world." I knew it!

I smile, throwing my shoulders back. Three of them burst into fits of laughter, whilst Maddox stares at me with a strange look in his eyes, one I didn’t even want to decipher, I had boiled it down to either sex or murder, neither of which I would appreciate. I should have known they would find it hard to believe, their hadn’t been a Phoenix sighting in many years, the last one when I was only a child and I didn’t know to hide what I was. But I didn’t know if they knew about that.

Hopefully Phoenix would be able to pay him later. I quietly giggled at the thought. I found out that Morning lost all of Phoenix's money to a scale earlier. Phoenix had took a long time to save all that money so it wasn’t like he was rolling in money. Carter would most likely have a ride awakening when he found out. The only options he would have then would be to accept a low pay or hand around more. And I wouldn’t mind him hanging around. I had never seen a jaguar shifter like him before and he was a very interesting person. I could understand why Oisin enjoyed finding new things now.

Trying to lighten the mood, I teased, "Hey, you’ll be working in Manila too. We’ll see each other there." "Would you consider letting me court you then?" Marco asked.

Marcus had asked, his voice low and mocking. “Yes, it is her,” I had said, my grip tightening on Phoenix’s arm. “Do what you need to do, but don’t harm her.” Marcus had laughed bitterly. “Don’t worry, princess. I’ll play my part now.” He had pulled Phoenix into his arms, her protests were weak and slurred. The sight had been enough. And so, I had left her in Marcus arms, leaving her there to go finish up with the whistle blowing. And the rest of what happened had unfolded exactly as I’d hoped.

And from what he was told about their history as a species, there were no known occurrences even remotely similar to what he experienced. A couple of centuries ago, he had heard a rumor about a phoenix living somewhere in the Andes, but when he was there last time, he didn’t find him. Who knows… maybe they could go to search for him again… maybe they will get lucky and find him… and maybe he’ll know something more than Luke does…
