Maria Loi Books Novels & Stories

Maryam, still on her school uniform, tugged on May's sweater as they passed a bookstore. "What is it now?" May asked. "Buy me that book." Maryam pointed at the yellow book sitting on the shelf just outside the bookstore. "Why?" May queried. "Isn't that Half of a Yellow Sun written by Chimamanda Adichie?" Iby asked. "I want it," Maryam whined. "Mtcheww. Leave me oh. I’m here to only buy oranges." May said, walking towards where the oranges were sold. Maryam began crying. Iby turned to her. "Are you seriously crying because you want your mom to buy you a book?"

Maria is one of the reasons why I had a shot at winning, it's crazy how I never knew her daughter was a victim of abuse. Maria pulled away from me and held my hands softly, “My Lady you look stunning, How have you been?” she inquired politely. “Maria, I'm supposed to ask you that, How have you been? The fact that you testified against Liam in court what would you do about your job? Liam would not let this slide that you betrayed him.” I said looking so worried. She smiled wearily, “My Lady, I could not imagine Sir Liam winning this case and destroying your life any further. You have been through a lot my lady I would see you again someday, but I have to go now. Take good care of yourself and

Tristan Maria used to be everything. A strong woman. A wife. A mother. A laugh that filled rooms. A mind sharp, strong, intelligent and career driven enough she was a threat to the business world back then. I could’ve told Liora all of that. I could’ve told her about the songs she used to hum in the kitchen whenever she's not working, always old jazz, scratchy and soft, like a voice from a different time. Could’ve told her how she used to leave little notes around the house despite her busy schedule, quotes, scriptures, things I never paid attention to until they stopped showing up.

It was now close to 11pm. Me: Hi beautiful are you still awake? Marianna: Hi Manny, yes I am still awake. Why are you awake this late? me: Oh you know just working on this case, why are you still awake Ma'am? Marianna: Honestly, because I miss you, it feels weird to sleep alone now.... Me: Really? I am flattered, I miss you too Marianna. Marianna: You should try to get some sleep sir! Me: What are you wearing?

Imagining the expressions of the two of them made me laugh uncertainly. Maria walked over to me, she sat with me in the backyard, carrying a novel. When Maria picked up the book, I realized it was the title of my book. My eyes are perfectly rounded, especially when the cover of my book shines with the famous sunlight "Oh shiit, are you still reading my novel?" I asked. Maria nodded her head "yeah, even though I've read all your novels. But I love reading your novel over and over again. I heard from Claudia that you won't be writing anymore. Why?" Maria asked me.

Taking his seat, Lecoi crossed his legs in a charming and demonizing way as he said, "So tell me rogue, what do you need my help for?" He asked and hearing that, Erica gulped down before she then said, "It's about Maria, my Lord." "Maria? What's that?" Lecoi asked a lot confused. "Maria isn't a thing but a person and she is about to lose her life because she was accused of stealing from lord Robin!" Erica explained and hearing that, Lecoi was still a lot confused. "What do you mean by accused? What did she steal exactly?" He asked and hearing that, Erica said, "Lord Robin Said that his book was missing and he thinks Maria was the one who took the book but she wasn't!"

Maria’s pov- I don't know why this was becoming such a turmoil for me. It is not like I am telling my brothers I am leaving forever and will never see them again; I’m simply telling them I want to live elsewhere, in a place of my own without guns, and drama and fear. A life I built for myself not one that was handed down to me by family name. “What is this about Maria? Aimee has me trying on bow ties and cuff links for the wedding and I have no patience to deal with her scorn if it so happens that I am late” Lorenzo chuckled from his seat in the sofa across from me.

Aurora said, recalling Maria’s exact words. “That was what I saw in the article,” she replied and Aurora sighed. “I don't want to talk or think about it. I will just keep reading my book.” Aurora said and opened her book then started to read. Maria furrowed her brows, staring at the book in her hand. The book cover was brown and it looked old. Maria got curious and she moved closer to her, she leaned closer to Aurora and stared at the book. She frowned and looked at Aurora. “Aurora, what are you doing?” Maria asked and Aurora looked at her.

And beneath it, I wrote three words: Find the truth. I spent the next year in libraries and courtrooms.I read everything. Criminal codes. Detective novels. Forensic science. Old news clippings. I started attending open hearings downtown — mostly petty theft and drug cases. But sometimes… sometimes I saw something useful. And then one day, I saw him. Raffaele Moretti.
