❤️Maria's POV ❤️ I was fast asleep, when the curtains were pulled open, and my two younger sisters came and attacked me with a pillow, singing " Going to the chapel and we're going to get married." Its too early, I shout, but my mother and Madre Gemma came in with an Asian lady and two small children. "Rise and shine", my mother says. Gemma walks over to me with the lady. "Maria Dear, I would like for you to meet my Daughter Min, and her children, Hanna and Yoshi."

“Why should I listen to you? I don’t even know who you are.” “You were a lot nicer yesterday.” She says wistfully. I frown crossing my arms, deeply annoyed that she keeps on bringing up the past. A past that involved the most hated person in my heart right now. No, not my sleazy step father who ran off. My supposed mate, Mattel. “My name is Maria.” The elderly woman says softly. “And my sub gender is a beta.” She reveals to me. The lack of scent made it obvious to me but she telling me herself made me pull down my tall walls for a while.

Maria’s dagger flashed in the dim light, cutting down one assailant after another. But they were outnumbered. Maria reached into her belt, pulling out a special grenade. “Cover me!” Nina nodded, slashing at an incoming cultist. Maria hurled the grenade into the horde. It exploded with a deafening roar, sending bodies flying and filling the corridor with a dense fog. “This way!” Maria pulled Nina into the fog, using the cover to slip past their attackers. The cult members, however, were undeterred. Their chants echoed through the halls, and more figures emerged from the shadows.

But she was trapped in the cart, unable to help her friend. Suddenly, the two rogue wolves lunged forward, their growls reverberating through the air. Maria transformed into her wolf form in an instant, her body shifting and growing, fur sprouting as she became a powerful creature. Isla watched in awe and fear as Maria faced off against the two wolves, her instincts taking over as she prepared to defend herself.

“Who… who is this?” Hades glanced at me, his expression softening just slightly. “She’s a… special friend, Mom,” he said, his voice quieter than I’d ever heard it. I swallowed hard, forcing a small, reassuring smile as I stepped forward. “Hi, Mrs.…” I trailed off, realizing I didn’t know her last name. “Just call her Maria,” Hades said quickly, his tone sharp, like he wanted to avoid the formalities altogether. “Maria,” I repeated gently. “It’s nice to meet you. I—uh—we should get going.”

“What about the spell? Your girlfriend, Mariah, placed a spell on HQ to prevent anyone from opening a portal within the building, right?” I was grateful Enzo brought it up. Mariah was a talented witch, and had been a distant ally of our pack since Luke had started dating her right before our wedding. “Exactly. With Mariah’s spell, our HQ should be like a fortress. No one should be able to just portal out.” Luke nodded, looking just as perplexed as we were. “The spell is still intact. Mariah checked it herself. Which means the burglar couldn’t have portaled out from inside the tunnels.”

But when she actually opened them, she was no more that timid girl, Thea. She was Maria, the wild, strong princess of the monster land, Maria Jones. All her wounds were healed, and the stench from earlier was gone, leaving a fresh fragrance of heavenly flowers. The first thing she saw was that group of senior girls walking toward the dorms, giggling shamelessly as though they’d just done something so funny. “Oh my God,” one of them snickered. “Did you see how far that dumbo was...Gosh...what did she eat... the way her mouth hung open? Like some bloated fish!” The other five laughed.

But one look at Fasting, and Alice had a bad feeling in her stomach, he held a finger to his lips, and then slowly took the phone away from Alice before she could answer her mother's questions.
