Then he looked at us, something unreadable burning behind his eyes.
“This,” he said slowly, his voice rough, “isn’t some sick prank This is a summoning.”
My chest went cold.
Pelin frowned, hugging herself. “Summoning… what?”
Aziz shifted his weight, his hair falling into his eyes as he studied the bloody circle. “A Marid. The black kind.”
The word was foreign on his tongue, harsh and heavy.
“What is that supposed to mean?” I asked, my voice felt so weak.
His gaze flicked to me, holding mine until I felt pinned to the mattress. “A jinn. A supernatural creature from the obsidian dimension. They come in colors—blue, red, black. The black ones are the strongest.”
