Garret stares at it. Marinah makes a sharp noise in the back of her throat and stares pointedly at Garret. "This is when men play nice, shake hands, and spill the info. Even I'm tired of waiting," she grumbles testily. Garret snaps out of his fog and shakes my hand. Firm and quick. I play nice at my mate's request and don't break his hand. "Well, umm, I apologize," he says. "I've heard a lot about you both, and I guess I'm a little tongue-tied." His gaze rests on Marinah, and I can't stop a low growl. He snaps his eyes away from my mate, and I relax somewhat.

Things were about to get awkward between Mariselle and me, and because she used to be my best friend, it hurt like hell to see her so distant and angry, CJ pulled me closer, kissing my forehead tenderly, but when Mariselle stood at the door and glared at me, an expression that screamed, 'I'll tear you apart if you take one step closer, ' I froze. CJ grinned, rubbing my back to soothe me, his gaze silently communicating that he was solidly behind me and bent to whisper to me. "Your face turned white as a sheet. Don't forget what I told you. Try to ignore her tantrums. She's angry but will get used to us eventually."

Marina glared right through her with those kinds of eyes as the mother and daughter heated up the atmosphere while Justin, Jane, and Stan were watching around them. "Honey, please, calm down for a bit," Marion whispered as Marina unclasped his hand from her arm suddenly and she pointed at Marian once again. Justin swallowed as she saw how angry her face was and how Marian sniffed in front of him. He bit his lip and didn't want to interrupt the conversation he was now witnessing. The tears trickled down from her face as Marian looked through the eyes of her mother.

I said, shrugging my shoulders. When we made it to the lake, Marlo crashed into me. "Hey, buddy!" I said, stopping to meet his eyes. "Hi, Matilda!" He shouted completely ignoring me. "Hey," Matilda shyly replied. "Do you want to swim with me?" he enthusiastically asked. "Okay," she agreed. "I guess I wasn't standing here," I chuckled as Marlene approached. "I totally think they are best friends or mates," Marlene laughed. "That would be nice," I smiled. "I'm so happy to see you again," Marlene said, embracing me. "I heard about Marlin. That asshole! The whole situation had me shaking in my knickers in anger every time I would see those two together," I hugged. "I'm getting better every day,"

Angry, Marlie freed herself from his grasp, escalating her frustration. The two guys who had pulled Marlie towards them burst into laughter at Ken's comment, provoking a reaction from her. She huffed and glared at Ken, contemplating her retaliation. Her actions revealed her vulnerability, as everyone there knew that being called fat was Marlie's weakness. Marlie's anger grew as the laughter continued. They were mocking her, and her anger turned into tears that welled up in her eyes. Her chest pounded heavily, causing her shoulders to move fiercely like a raging lion.

Bernard narrowed his eyes as he stared at her little face that was swollen red with anger, and sneered, "Your legs are truly numb, and you are wasting my time!" However, a part of her voice had been covered by the sound of the ocean waves. Only Bernard could hear her tone, but it couldn't spread any further.

The door suddenly clicked open, Mike walked out first, then Marinette followed, their jaws dropped when they saw me sitting there. Ohh… So it's Mike. Nice fit. “Hi,” I waved at them. “Hiii… Rory,” Marinette said, while Mike waved awkwardly. Mike looked a little neat, but Marinette looked like she ran a marathon, her hair was scattered, and her lipstick smudged across her face. “How was the exercise?” I asked with a teasing grin. “Good,” Mike replied. Marinette hid her gaze from mine. So now she is shy, isn't she?

“If you don’t feel safe here, I’d be more than happy to take you back to your father.” Marionne’s eyes flashed with anger, and she snapped back, her voice rising in pitch. “So you can do whatever the hell you want? Probably bring some women here to fuck?” Her frustration was evident as she fumbled with her silver cigarette case, pulling out another cigarette and lighting it with a shaky hand. She took a deep drag, exhaling a plume of smoke. Millie carefully set the tray down on a nearby table, trying not to draw attention to herself as she did so. But the clink of the ice against the glass somehow brought all eyes to flick toward her before quickly returning to the unresolved argument.
