I step to the couch with slow steps, like a mosquito lulled in by the light, drinking in all of it and sitting down next to him. I’m still holding on to the plush unicorn, captured by the entertainment system as Giovanni hands me one of the consoles. “Do you want to play Mario Kart?”

Mikael informs me. "Where is that? I don't know anyone there," "Even better! It's the last place on earth the Cartel will look, and it is not your average city," he winks, and I roll my eyes. The boys helped me climb down carefully without a hassle, and then Troy. I didn't see Mikael climb down, but he just appeared in front of me as if he teleported. "We haven't seen you in so long! Come in, come in!" Mario gave another good-hearted smile and stepped inside. He looked around the cozy building, proud of his parents' house. It definitely had a homey feeling to it; decorated with paintings of nature and all, photos of the family, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mario felt at home the moment he stepped inside. "Paul!" His mother shouted down a hallway. "Paul! Mario's here!" "Whatzat Marie?!" A voice boomed back. "Quit your yapping, I'm trying to get some work--"

And though I was still upset, I put my hand on his arm and teasingly said, “Maybe today is the day I will get to know how old are you.” He turned to look me, the moment hung suspended and then his shoulders relaxed a bit as he replied, “Keep trying, little devil. You’ll get to the right answer eventually.” The room seemed to relax collectively and Mario said, “Enjoy your meal. Then, I’ll bring the cake.” Mario and the men started to leave silently, I wanted to ask them to stay but I knew that Antonio didn't allow his men inside the castle and they probably only came to help Mario.

Still, with his hand just resting on my lower back, he leads me over to the alley. We enter the alley and I see Mario sitting about halfway down, leaning against the sidewall. We make our way to him and as we get closer, I can hear him groaning in pain. I approach him slowly, "Hi Mario, do you remember me? Where have you hurt yourself?"

Glancing at Josh, who remained focused on a book, she shifted away from Mario, saying, "Excuse me, we are trying to work here." Mario, not bothered by Amelia's objection, leaned back with a smirk. "Well, I didn't mean to interrupt your little study session. Just thought I'd add some excitement," he replied, his tone carrying a hint of sarcasm. Ignoring Amelia's discomfort, he continued to linger, very intent on provoking a reaction from Josh.

Mario commanded. A few more minutes passed without moving on my bed, just staring at nothing, i'm now silently crying. I was sweating profusely and scared in anticipation of what Mario would do after the stunt I just pulled! I'm wondering why no one had come to my aid when they heard the gunshot and all that screaming that i just did. My neighbours are all probably planted too. Of course they are, I should have considered the weird reply I would get from them sometimes. Mario came back to the room. His footsteps are loud and heavy against the flimsy flooring I have.

I answered with a smile, getting up from my chair. But when I was about to head up the stairs so that I would make my way out of the theater, I tripped on Arianna's doll and was going to hit my head before I felt strong arms holding me back. Mario saved me from the fall. His arms were around my waist for a few seconds before he balanced me and pulled away. A moment later, after he pulled away, I still felt his hands on me. Gripping tightly around me. And I breathed audibly.

Allegra let out a groan, "Okay, everyone, let's just call them blocks. Plain old blocks." Aurora shrugged, "But blocks aren't as fun as Motherfuckers." Cristiano clapped his hands, "Motherfucker blocks!" Evangeline buried her face in her hands. "This is a disaster." Cristiano extended a block towards Marcello, who hesitated, then stepped forward, accepting the block. He looked up at me with a triumphant smile and declared, "Motherfucker." I couldn't help but laugh. "Really, that's the first English word you learned?"
