Marion leaned back casually, his arm draped over the chair, eyes glinting like he’d seen it coming all along.
“Told you, Wildfire,” he murmured, lips brushing the shell of my ear as I sat down. “Guess the universe just confirmed what I already know. You’re mine, and forever’s closer than you think, Wildfire.”
“Hmmm.”
The bouquet still rested in my lap, and I could feel every pair of eyes sneaking glances, some teasing, some knowing. I tried to sip my champagne again, but Marion wasn’t having it.
Before I knew it, he stood, tugging me up by the hand. “Come on, Wildfire,” he said, voice low but firm. “Let’s give them something else to talk about.”
