Grayson was propped against the headboard, a thick book resting lazily in his hands. He didn’t look up right away and turned a page first, as if he had all the time in the world. Then finally he set his book aside and met my gaze. A slow sigh escaped him, laced with a wry sort of resignation. “So,” he spoke as his amber eyes were steadied, “you have to face your cheating mate alone, just because your so-called husband is unable to defend you.”
