The Conference Hall was alive with the clatter of cutlery and the low hum of conversation as the Alphas of the Pack Lands gathered for a hearty breakfast. The air was thick with the scent of sizzling meats and fresh bread, but even thicker was the tension. None of the Alphas dared to object to Malakai's plan to merge his pack with Amani’s—likely due to the silent challenge in his fierce gaze, daring anyone to oppose him. Malakai had just begun to address the growing concerns about the Rogue Lands when the door flew open. Marquis, his father’s head guard, stormed in, his expression grave.

He glanced over his shoulders to the awaiting General and pissed off Nicklos, then back to me. "The attack seems planned out. Our enemies have set the bait, and are awaiting for our arrival. It would be wise to carry a light load." I sighed, anger coursing through me as I nodded once. With a gentle pat on my shoulder, Marquise turned to face the others and walked towards the door. Marquise and Nicklos shared a silent glare before he disappeared. This was going to stop here, the last thing I needed was drama on the battlefield. Nicklos wasn't suppose to be here anyway. I don't know what was making me more angry at this moment.

I felt relieved he had come and also apprehensive when I watched him fight. After making sure Diane was okay, Mason hurried over to my side. He reached for me, trying to check if I was okay. But the moment his hands touched me, pain slammed through him. He doubled over before trying to stabilize himself. Henry's pack soon noticed I was alone with Mason and surrounded me. "You... You are Marked!" Mason said in horror.

Thorn asked me as he came from inside the stable. “Not really but what choice did I have at this point?” I said with a sigh. Thorn’s face was grim but he chose to not say anything and nodded. He wasn’t exactly happy about this plan either but it was the easiest to execute. As the main house came into view I could see the Marquess and his family standing outside. The only one that was missing was Killian. He had been called away again for some border skirmishes. The villages near there were being raided by bandits. The Marquess was the first to step up to welcome us.

Marc remained quiet for a moment, glancing around at the faces in the room. Millie, Draco, and I all watched him with rapt attention. My heart hung in the air as I waited for his next words. “Just before I was saved, I was attacked by the Maniac Rogue along the way. He wore a mask and had a small frame. The rogue tried to rip out my heart from my chest but didn’t succeed.” Marc’s eyes had taken on a faraway look as he explained. “Once I’d regained my memories, I became suspicious and investigated his movements. That was how I found out that he’s been targeting the Still Moon Pack and especially you, Sera.”

His bombardment made Markus force a weak smile over his face. "Richardson." Markus began, his tone serious yet composed, "I need you to come to my island tomorrow. I have found your bride-to-be. She is with me here on my island and misses you badly.” Markus’s expressions changed into utter disappointing ones. He wanted him to refuse and let him have Valeria but he could not break his promise to Valeria. There was a brief pause on the other end of the line before Richardson responded, his voice tinged with curiosity. "Of course, Markus. I'll be there. Is she alright? Where did you find her?”

He said as Reid went to the window and checked the current situation of the weather. “Is the event still going to happen?” Hannah asked. “Yeah, it will,” Reid said. “We can’t delay anything.” Hannah approached her boss to check the storm by the window. “By the way, who is the Marquiss that they were talking about?” She asked. “Just out of curiosity.” Reid stopped as he was silent for a while. “You need to prepare yourself if you ever meet him. Ivan Marquiss is the man whom my ex-mate is going to marry.”

If I am not mistaken, she is Marie, the second daughter of the Menejez tribe; they lived near the Criose territory, the most hard-headed tribe; they were called the black sheep tribe. They don't follow the rules; they are killed once every hundred years via poisoning or hunting. They were the main reason why we wolves were almost exposed, and now, humans do believe we exist and continually hunt us. Either to kill or to attract people for money.
