A mother ran out, frowning at the muck splashed over my clothes. I smiled and patted the kids' hair, adding, "It's okay, my clothes actually needed a wash." There were no infants in the city since there wasn't time for it when everyone was starving. However, I assumed that soon the city will be populated by fresh faces. "Young Master, you must have had a new idea again?" Mason smiled as he approached me. His face was caked with grime. "Ahh! Mason, the Monster!" The kids bolted right away. Recently, all of the workers have begun telling their children stories about the monster Mason, who eats creatures alive.

"Well, I'll leave you to it then. Good luck with that." "Thanks. See ya 'round!" "Later bro," Mason pointed at him with a wink. We stood there stiff as statues smiling at his back while he walked on. Once he was gone I turned to Mason and whisper-yelled, "What the hell was that?" "Me?! You're the one who wouldn't stop talkin about the runs! You think we wana hear about how you had one hell of a coodle in the bog?" "No. That's why I made it up. It's the best I could do on the spot."

Mason said, ‘Mason is a king and he never takes permission, he always gives orders and that is me, I am Mason. The doorkeeper get scared and asked him as it was his duty, ‘from which kingdom you came? Mason said, ‘I came from my kingdom, from the water.’ The doorkeeper thought, ‘is he mad or something.’ He decided to talk to his soldiers and said, ‘hey you come here, from which kingdom do you come?’ The soldier got angry and said, ‘how you dare to cut the talk of our King.’ The doorkeeper didn’t understand anything and went into the palace and told the King, a group of people want to meet you instantly.’

But he wasn’t my mate. ‘There are chosen mates,’ my wolf whispered. ‘But why rush into that? Let’s have fun. He made you happy.’ Mason said he was a warrior from Bloodmoon. With most of Walden’s warriors deployed to the border for wall construction, it was reasonable to assume he might be there. “No, that doesn’t matter. I have a job to do,” I told myself and went back to checking schedules. Later that afternoon, I found myself walking toward the border. I couldn’t focus. My thoughts kept going back to Mason. I needed to get outside and clear my head.

"Maybe we should call someone, security or..." "No." Caspian held up a hand, while still staring at me. He didn’t look afraid, he looked unsettled, and that was something. I reached into my bag and pulled out the magazine, unfolding the page I had bookmarked. "This," I said, "is your face but it’s not your life. You disappeared a year ago, everyone thought you were gone, dead, missing but you are here. You just don’t remember, I don’t know what happened to you, but I swear to you, you are him. You are my Mason."

Hudson followed silently, his face grim. The Wolf Supreme Court was packed with members from both packs. The tension in the air was palpable as the trial began. I stood as the judge, my face stern and unyielding. "Mason, you are charged with conspiracy and treason against the kingdom," I declared. "How do you plead?" Mason stood, his head held high. "Not guilty." The evidence was overwhelming. Witnesses testified against Mason, recounting his plans and schemes. Claire, already banished, had given a full confession. The court listened in silence as the story unfolded.

An unexpected plus one soured Mason's mood. He closed his eyes, took a breath to compose himself, and when he opened them, his face was plastered with a phony grin. "Hello!" Amber, who had been all smiles with Alexander, gave Mason a frosty nod in greeting. In a setting like that, no one was flashing smiles. "I'm Mason, right-hand man at the Trio Alliance Club in Ol' Mare. Miss Chesire, punctuality isn't your strong suit, is it?" Mason's face was sour as he introduced himself, trying to come off strong.

Mason struggles against his restraints again, and says in a low, threatening voice, "You wash that filthy mouth before you talk about my Ma!" John chuckles. "Your Ma wasn't all that. She wasn't a righteous woman at all. I don't know what she told you, but it was all a lie. She cheated on me in hopes of getting money to skip town with you. Nothing can convince me otherwise, and I fight people who try to tell me I'm wrong." "Fight me, then!" Mason shouts. Gosh, I want to knock him over the head with something because he's only making the situation worse.

She'd just finished healing herself, and it would have been a kick in the teeth to lose herself so soon. At first glance, they all assumed it was an act of revenge for the exile which had resulted in the kidnapping and the ambush. However, as they reconstructed the events, the extent of what Mason had orchestrated became clear. His choice of the empty warehouse on Scott's territory was no coincidence. He was willing to start a war.

Everything changed. Mason showed up at Kade’s doorstep not long after it all happened, with a gift basket and an apologetic look. Kade tried to send him away. He refused. He’d tried to force his way into the house, claiming that he knew Kade needed the company, and that he wasn’t leaving. Kade pushed him away, just like he had pushed everyone else away. He said some… awful things that he didn’t want to think about, even now, over a decade later.
