Mason quickly cut in. "It’s not about what happened. My mom’s sick, and I just need to spend time with her, that’s all,” Mason explained. “Professor Ste-phen Draven…” Dexter’s voice cut through the conversation. “You know him?”

Mason's voice was heated as he talked. Riley stopped him at the door as he was about to intrude. The pharmacist sighed, his face filled with remorse. "I apologize, Mason. There are no more herbs available." Mason was finally able to release go of the door. "I see," he murmured, grasping the pouch tightly in his fingers. After accepting a commission from the mansion to design some strange engravings, he had quite a bit of money. But it was all for nought because the herbs themselves were unavailable.

Elias pointed to a low priority alert on the screen, a small, regional legal notice. "Mr. Mason, using his new corporate power, just filed an injunction on your late father's estate," Elias stated, his voice tight. "He is challenging the initial court's ruling, claiming the judge was bribed. He is using Armani Entertainment lawyers to appeal. He has frozen every last asset you won back. The inheritance is gone, Miss Hales. All of it. Frozen indefinitely." I stumbled back, landing hard against my stool. The victory I had been fighting for, the house, the money, the symbol of my independence, it was all snatched away, not by my stepmother, but by Mason,

How much can we lend from the banks?” Charles sighed and then said helplessly, "We have been to many large and small banks, and finally a small bank is willing to lend money to us, but they refuse to give us a loan as soon as they know someone else will take over the Mason Group. After all, the banks only want to be the icing on the cake and don’t want to help." Now the Mason Group was a bottomless pit. The compensation in the overseas market alone could make the legal person of the group unable to bear it and go to jail!

He is stripped from his titles, his land has been seized by Ovylian, and he's banished from both lands. Isadora, the child, and him left earlier today."

I whirled on him. “Of course not. Don’t be absurd.” “Then the Continental Laws are not as absolute as we claim, are they?” Mason replied with a slight smile. “Perhaps that’s something worth remembering in the coming days.” I studied my uncle with new eyes, trying to understand what game he was playing. “Why are you really here, Mason? And don’t give me some political answer about family obligations.”
