Cheyenne’s eyes narrowed, fire flashing behind her emerald irises. “Funny thing about spirits,” she said softly, dangerously. “They don’t shatter when you forge them in the fires of hell. They burn hotter. Stronger. And they take bastards like you down with them.”
The Master’s grin returned, sharper, darker, but his eyes betrayed the flicker of irritation he couldn’t quite mask. He leaned forward, whispering like a promise:
“Oh, you’ll burn, my little ones. But it will be for me.”
