Silver Fang never trained for Matron fire. They didn’t believe it still existed. But it does. And now… they’d learned. The male I’d stunned tried to rise again. I shifted back mid-run, caught his blade between my gauntlets, twisted it from his grip, and slammed my elbow into his jaw. He went down. Hard. Panting, blood on my lips, I stood in the center of the clearing, surrounded by three fallen hunters. Breathing. Burning. Alive. They looked up at me with new eyes.

Matteo raised his gun, shaking, teeth gritted. “You don’t get to talk anymore.” Lazaro collapsed. No final words. No dramatic last breath. He just... died. Matteo’s gun slipped from his fingers. “I had to,” he whispered. “I know.” I reached for my comm. “Rue. Rue, can you hear me?” Static. “Anyone. We need evac. Matteo’s hit. I repeat, Matteo is—” Crack. A bullet hit the wall near my head. I ducked, pulling Matteo behind a marble pillar.

His mouth twitches, and his fingers dance at his side. “You can't kidnap her as well. She wouldn’t want to go with you or call you dad,” I continue. “You’re a stranger to her.” Without warning, Mateo pulls his gun from the holster on his hip and fires. Everyone jolts. The bullet hits the floor, just inches from Hunter’s foot. Hunter doesn’t move, but the snarl in his expression worsens. His chest is heaving now, arms flexed behind the restraints like he’s willing his body to break out of them.

I grab Tony’s gun and aim at Matteo. Standing there as naked as the day I was born, my hands are shaking as Matteo steps again, his hands raised. I don’t move, I just watch him. I move the gun and fire. The bullet whizzes past his head. He stops when I’m tackled and the gun ripped from my hands.

someone seems to ask, but my gaze is fixed on Dad, watching him struggle as he clutches his leg that is now bleeding with the gunshot. Then that someone shakes me by the shoulders, drawing me back to reality. It’s Meera. “Nat, please say something!” she urges, tears streaming down her cheeks. “W-What happened?” I blurt out, sounding hysterical, my chest heaving dangerously. Meera points out at the door. Matt stands there with a gun in his hand. When his eyes meet mine, his hand drops, and he falls to his knees, breathing hard. Shaking my head, I yell, “What the fuck just happened?”

That's all that matters now. We are just outside the shelter. It should be easy to go in if not for the bullets raining around us. Yvonne shrieked when the concrete wall behind us was hit. "Fuck," I growled as I held her tighter. "Stay down." "Go in!" Matias yelled as he ran closer to us. He was shooting against the enemies when he suddenly fell. He was shot! "We have to move," I pulled her arms to help her when I saw a red dot on my chest. Fuck! I'm targetted! I had no choice but to grab Yvonne, pulling her to drop to the ground as I covered her.

Up on the hill, released from their chains, Gerald and Doreen ran onto the scene accompanied by Hugo, freezing at the sight that met them. “No,” Gerald began shaking his head in disbelief as he stared at his best friend on the floor. “No. No. No!” His breathing quickened as he also fell onto his knees beside Damian, who was breathing laboriously, staring at the spot where he’d been shot. “This can’t be happening. Where the fuck is that bastard?!” “I shot him, and he fell down the hill,” Matamoros answered. “Fuck!” Gerald let out a scream, feeling tears burning his eyes. “This can’t be happening!”

The interviewer continues with more questions, reading from what seems like an A4 paper in her hand. “If you really mean that you survived the gunshot by luck and didn’t see the face of the shooter, but you do know that one of the shooters was caught by Matriarch Alessandra’s personal guard, right? And that she was also shot? Who do you think she was working for?” The question hangs in the air, heavy with implications.

Felix told him as a matter of fact and he grinned. Matteo smirked "Well, I should also tell you...." He leaned closer. "your girl, oh what's her name again. Yeah Sarah, her skin.....it tastes so good" he said lowly with dark amusement in his eyes. Felix grinned at his words. So he touched her, fucking asshole! He grimaced, cocked his gun and immediately shot Matteo to the left shoulder. "Jesus!" He groaned.

And I will make sure to walk you to the gates of hell myself.” Padrino told him as his jaw ticked before grabbing me and pulling me with him towards his Cadillac.
