Checked the answer key. It was correct. One down. A million to go. --- My phone buzzed. Rick: "what are you doing" Me: "dying. you?" Rick: "playing games. want to come over" Me: "cannot. studying." He smirked, while I maintained a straight face, "Look, I need to score well in math to graduate and I'm failing miserably. Football can only get you so far. I did worse on the first exam than I did last semester. If I can't pass this stupid class I won't be eligible next year. I'll lose my scholarship." Mitch shook her head in frustration. "I mean, I knew I was crap at math in high school but I at least got by, y'know? And the grad student they've got teaching my section barely speaks English." Mitch sat down heavily on a bench "I'm a goner."

Amanda's POV "Seriously? How could you still not get it?" Vince said exasperatedly, scowling at me. We were seated on my couch again. I was eyeing the math paper on the table with distaste and suspicion like it was a food I didn't like. "Calm down. Not everyone is as smart as you." I said, half sarcastically. Math was really a pain for me. It was the greatest enemy, and with the looming math test in three days, I have to sort this out.

Surely that is classified as cruel and unusual punishment. I turned over the test paper and suppressed a groan. Algebra, my life would be much better if I never had to do algebra again. Studying maths might look good on my resume but I would be glad to obliterate all traces of it from my brain once I graduated.

Catherine groaned and muttered softly, she flopping down on the table, dejectedly thinking about the class ahead of her. What a long day. Going back to high school was too much for her. Catherine had not faced any things like math or physics for ten years, she was inherently not very interested in learning, especially in scientific subjects with many numbers and many formulas. Catherine lamented for years of failure in life, not studying carefully, only worrying about playing and running after a bad guy.

Never thought studies will get so tough year by year. Especially math which I could calculate at my fingertips now has so many word rules which just don’t make any sense to me at all.
