Although I easily aced every other subject, my only issue was mathematics. Whoever the heck invented mathematics as a required subject seriously needed to be arrested. Anything that passed a simple equation immediately made my brain throb with pain. I stared down at the numbers, my face scrunching up at the complex equation as I tried to figure out where I had gone wrong, but the memories of last week kept sneaking back into my head, so I slammed my book closed, wanting to scream out loud in frustration.

I looked at the equation on the board and just sighed. Clara, our top student and who they call a math genius put up her hand. She got up and proudly went to the board to solve it. We all watched her. As her back was turned against us, I could not help but feel envious towards her as Mr. Ronan seems to like her as she was always solving difficult mathematical problems and asking questions. He was always impressed. I was just an average student but I barely even passed mathematics. I just didn't find any interest in it.
