Weston will choose his mate. The words kept ringing in my head. A new testament, something i couldn’t truly believe until it was indented in my mind. I expected the ceremony to be anything else other than what Weston announced. I could feel myself Losing Grip of reality when I heard those words leave his mouth. when he presented those women and declared that he would choose a mate from one of them. I had lost him forever. He was no longer my best friend. He was no longer my friend to begin with. He was alpha and he has now started taking over his duties as alpha and doing what was good for the pack.

My grip tightens and I swear I growl at him. “Link, how about you shut up or I’ll kick your ass and I won’t be as nice as she is,” Matt says, glaring at him. His gaze is ice cold. I stare at Matt, fascinated. His whole body took on a dangerous and feral air. His stance is rigid, but he seems poised, ready for anything. It’s his eyes that stand out the most, they’re a light brown, almost yellow color, that gleam with something I can name but it’s terrifying.

I wrote back to her, shaking my head. The sound of footsteps on the fresh snow announced that I was no longer alone. Lifting my eyes to see who was coming towards the house, I saw a grinning Matt. He was dressed in a warm black jacket and a scarf in the colors of the American flag. In each hand, he had a big red mug with some steamy beverage. “Hey!” I said to him in a form of greeting. “Hey, M!” He responded, climbing the three stairs of the porch.

Rica quits shouting as she sees me, Rica turns away, and Luke goes to welcome me, “Yo, Matt, you alright? You appear to be somewhat pale.” “Definitely... I just―” Matt was cut off as he moved his look at the window just to see a white shade swinging from it. It made a deception of the outline he saw before, and he was confounded. However, he said, “I don’t have the foggiest idea. I just idea I saw something.” Rica comments, “Alright, you’re cracking me out. Luke and I will go get a few food sources. You need to come?” “No, pass. I’ll go check inside.”

I told her. She let me go. Thankfully, the restroom was empty, so I turned on the faucet and began splashing water on my face. Matt came in behind me. He was the closest to me after Terry. Though, based on their dumb hierarchy, his dad ranked third among the top billionaire families, a successful and popular mechanical engineer who could fix or build almost anything related to electronics. “Are you okay, dude?” Matt asked, patting my back. Somehow, his question triggered the bile that had been forming in my throat.

But I had no intention of giving it away. Instead, I held it up, high enough for them all to see the seal. “The Moon Matron line,” I said. “Forgotten, not broken.” The room fell silent. Then, from behind the dais, a door opened and Daxon entered. Every time he walked into a room, it was like the oxygen shifted. He was dressed in formal black, no tie, his shirt open just enough to reveal the mark at the base of his throat a faint crescent scar that pulsed faintly under the light.

Maybe Alpha Aaron needed to reconsider how he trained us, because his methods clearly did not work. I nudged Matty heavily with my elbow before his Dad turned round from the whiteboard he was standing at, writing something. Wait, when did he start writing stuff down? Did I miss that? Shit… Matty jerked upright, blinking his eyes in confusion as his eyes adjusted to the light within the room. He turned his gaze to me, his eyes narrowing as he did. A scowl quickly appearing upon his face. ‘You listened to any of this?’ He questioned through the mindlink.

"You're getting slow." I spin around glaring. "You're lucky I didn't break your nose." Matt just grins completely unbothered. "You fight like a raccoon." He's tall in that effortless athlete way—broad shoulders, dark hair, familiar eyes, and the kind of confidence people spend years trying to fake. Robbie's younger brother. Quarterback. Pack golden boy. Unfortunately, also one of my favorite people alive. "Missed you too," he says. I shove his chest lightly. "You're an ass."
