Before he could respond, the door opened and Matt, his personal assistant, strode in with a kind of restrained urgency. “Forgive the intrusion, sir, but you need to see this.” He was clutching an iPad, the screen already aglow. Edward turned away from the window slowly, his expression unreadable, and sank into the black leather of his swivel chair. Without a word, he accepted the iPad from Matt. At first, he scrolled with the detachment of a man used to half-baked news, but then his posture sharpened. His eyes narrowed, scanning line after line, the corners of his mouth twitching into something that looked like a smile.

Mat teased. “Are you volunteering yours, Mattie?” Alyce asked. “Eeewww, no. No hetero sex in my room thanks. Gross.” Mat over exaggeratingly gagged at the thought, causing all of us to laugh. “Then the peanut gallery should keep his opinions to himself.” Alyce stuck her tongue out at him. “Does he know how?” Cedric asked. “Only when it’s important from what I’ve seen.” I answered. “I mean, you’re not wrong.” Mat shrugged his shoulders and owned it.

“I’m managing, Mom. And… there’s something I haven’t told you.” Her brows lifted. “What is it?” I hesitated for a second, then blurted out, “I found my second chance mate.” Her eyes widened, and she gasped. “What? Claire, are you serious?” “Yes,” I said, nodding quickly. “Oh my goodness.” She grabbed my hands. “Who is he? Tell me everything.” I smiled shyly. “It’s Theo. Theo Valmont.” She blinked. “Your boss? The CEO?” “Yes.”

"Come on, I told you all will be fine. You've got to trust me, okay? All will be fine. Let's go." I was barely listening to him. Cold shivers ran down my spine as the memory came down to me. What the hell is going on? And why am I seeing this now? I began to wonder if my mental health was okay or if there was something behind this that Xavier was not telling me. Could it be that I was thinking too much? I wanted to ask him who Odessa was and if she had any connection with him, as I see in what seems to be my imagination, but there was no time.

"So what you said about Matt is true? He is related to Ace?" "You bore me Thomas with your tiring questions," Elisa smirked and looked at me, "You believe me, don't you? Deep down you have that wrenching feeling that Matt was too perfect to be true." Elisa curled her lips. "Matt is a talented actor. He almost fooled me, but unlike you, I'm smart."

Inside, Stacie fumed at Xander but she knew she had to watch her tongue. “What the hell is going on, Xander? What was that all about? Why did you freeze?” Xander didn’t want to tell her he knew she would keep bitching about it if he didn’t. “She’s my mate, Stacie. The girl is my mate.” Stacie froze, just as he expected her to. She couldn’t believe she finally found his mate after all these years and it was because of her. She had helped him find his mate. There wasn't way she was going to let her take Xander away from her. Not after all these years of hard work and trying to keep Xander to herself.

It it were Dad teasing him, Mattie would be in the in the infirmary fo a week at most. I brush his sweat covered hair back and lean down to kiss his forehead before handing him the remote for the TV before walking over to the desk I had in the corner and sit down while pulling out all the paperwork I had to go through. Taking a deep breath I get tackle my Alpha duties. A few hours later, I look up and over to the couch and find Mattie passed out on the couch. I smile and walk over to him seeing that the ice had already melted so I pull that off him before gently picking up before carrying him to the bathroom.
