The HIDDENS
She placed her hands on the wall, and the maze responded, the light moving with her guidance.
“This is like one of those stupid arcade games,” she muttered, her brow furrowed. “Except, you know, life or death.”
She maneuvered the light carefully, avoiding traps that caused the maze to reset. Sweat beaded on her forehead, but she didn’t stop. Finally, the light reached the center, and her section of the puzzle unlocked with a soft chime.
“One down,” she said, stepping back with a relieved sigh. “No big deal.”
Althea’s section was next. Her challenge involved deciphering a complex series of symbols that appeared to be written in an ancient language.
