I’m impressed. “ Let’s time it.” I read Speed saying. Ratchet presses a few keys and a stopwatch pops up in the corner of the screen. I see his finger hover over a button as he watches the track. When Speed is directly in front of us Ratchet hits the button and Speed takes off like a rocket. I swear she is back in front of us before I can blink. I look over at the stopwatch and see it has stopped at one hundred and twenty-five seconds. Ratchet types “ That is at one hundred and twenty miles per hour.” Holy fuck she is going that fast already. I see Ratchet reset the stopwatch. “ Speed’s words come across the screen “ Let’s see if we can do better.” Do better is she fucking kidding right now?

Jack pulled the headset down over his eyes. The first of the darts appeared on the screen. He squeezed his thumbs down and fired, chasing down its path with the lasers. The dart broke apart after a number of hits and skimmed off into the darkness. More darts appeared around them, zipping and zooming past as they chased and were chased by battle pods. Jack steered the pod past, picking up speed as he went.

After all, jumping from window to window would be a lot faster than going down and up a flight of stairs. There were two games that Zen knew were good options to train his running skills. That guy had escaped dozens of meters away in the blink of an eye. Jim stopped shooting at him and turned his wheelchair to pursue his target. On the hillside, the two run and chase each other. The wheelchair was completely unconcerned about the rough terrain below. It could even travel at a breakneck speed. The middle-aged man suddenly took a pearl necklace from his pocket when the distance between them started shrinking rapidly.

Just get from one side to the other as fast as possible and with whatever method you were most comfortable with. Competitors had gathered at the starting side, nerves taut and hearts racing. Chu Xun turned around and scampered like a mouse, using his arms to cover his head. Streaks of lightning lashed at him again and again, missing him by mere inches while leaving holes and craters all around him. "Just you wait, you bloody worm! I'll never forget this you old bastard!" Chu Xun never stopped running until he was out of range with every iota of his dignity forgotten.

His movements became faster, more precise. One of the enforcers lunged at him, jaws snapping. Jack dodged with speed that shouldn’t have been possible for a human. He grabbed a piece of debris from the arena floor, part of a broken cage, and swung it like a club. The impact connected with the enforcer’s skull with a sickening crack. The enforcer went down hard, stunned. The crowd roared in surprise. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Humans didn’t fight back effectively. They certainly didn’t down enforcers on the first hit.

“I wasn't aware the Whitmore heir was a grease monkey.” I kept my head down, my breath shallow, while Tracy awkwardly intervened. “Chika was a legend in the northern underground circuits back in our youth. He used to win death-races to fund our unit’s off-book ops. He’s not just skilled, Lucien—he’s a ghost on two wheels.” Lucien scoffed, a dark laugh tinged with genuine irritation. “I haven't even begun my interrogation and you’re already writing his legend. Do you realize how many wolves have died on the Devil’s Spine trying to catch Lowell Ruiz?”
