Lana shook her head but smiled slightly, conceding the playful banter. They followed Henry as he led them down a paved path lined with trees and benches. A few students passed by, chatting and laughing, some carrying bags or checking their phones. The university grounds buzzed with life, a mix of fresh arrivals and returning students settling in.

She turned around, trusting in him to catch her should she fall and she couldn’t believe her view. She was looking right at a beautiful meadow. The animals were walking around, trying to settle for the night. The deer were hopping around and with one clear look, she could see the leader stag carefully watching from under a tree. Trying to make sure that his people were safe.

Asher looked at me with such tenderness, his eyes sparkling with love, and I couldn’t help but feel cherished. After dinner, we took a walk through the woods, his favorite place. The trees stood tall around us, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze, and the air was thick with the scent of trees and earth. But Land of Ashes is really colored ... gray. No trees or grass grew in the area, nothing lived on it. Just a gray-brown expanse of barren land about the size of two football fields. In the new surroundings there are dense trees that surround. And above there the evening sky is orange as a contrast background.

Asher hit it again and more bits of bark fell off this time exposing the creamy flesh of the tree slightly moist with underground water and Asher’s blood. Maggie ran forward in horror and her eyes dropped to Asher’s fists. They were healing quickly but that did not stop her from worrying about the bits of peeling flesh and dripping blood that mix with the mossy green forest floor. “What are you doing?” Maggie demanded as she ran to him and took hold of his arm that was tensed up. His flesh was wet and silky with sweat.

The trees here were huge, their trunks covered with moss and vines, and the undergrowth was thick. The area had that fresh, green, slightly damp kind of scent of a long-lived temperate forest, and he smiled as he felt Ash breathe it in deeply beside him. "You like it here?" he asked, and she nodded, "Yeah, it feels good. Peaceful, and kind of soothing in a way," she said, looking around and taking it all in.
