It was not like we are likely to meet each other in the future after all. We drove in silence for a bit, Ashley taking the chance to gaze out the window and soak in the clear blue sky and bright green trees whizzing by. It was currently the beginning of autumn and a few trees were beginning to turn red and that shade of mesmerizing yellow that was peculiar to the season, making the view outside quite inviting. What made the colors really pop though, was how they melded together with everything else, passing by in a blur as we shot down the road.

I will have to warn Asher to stay away from her as much as possible. Me and Arizer walk hand in hand around their land as to not break the rules. It was weird it was like normal houses and roads but just hidden amongst the tree's. In the centre of what would be their land there was a huge willow tree, I have never seen one so big before. We sit undearneath it and sit in the sun shine, with a slight breeze making it nice and not too hot.

I don’t know how long it’s going to take them but I know it’s going to take a lot of time as Asher kept on rambling about being careful with the trees. It would have been a lot faster if the lycans could just fall these trees down without putting in any effort. I mean any wolf could easily do it, even I. I stared at it in disbelief. Half of the enormous tree was completely charred, its bark blackened as though it had been struck by lightning or consumed by an uncontrollable fire. Yet the other half was perfectly healthy.Green leaves covered its branches, and tiny flowers bloomed along them as though nothing had ever happened. The contrast was almost impossible to comprehend. As she kept doing that, her hands came in contact with a particular tree. This tree had a deep cut on the bark and Ashley’s hands touched it. All she felt was the gum that was generated from the tree.

Lira (POV) The trees here grow like they remember what came before. Crooked. Bone-thin. Covered in black lichen that flakes like rot when you brush past. Even the snow beneath them isn’t clean—stained with old ash, marbled with rust-colored melt lines like veins under skin.

Xander's pov The scent of damp earth, ash and frost clung to the air as we neared Ashville’s border. The heat had lessened slightly due to the change in seasons but it could still be felt slightly. The trees stood tall and lifeless, their branches clawing at the sky like skeletal fingers. The land here was darker, heavier—tainted by Zerathos’ growing influence. But we weren’t alone. As we got over the final hill the sight that waited us knocked the breath out of me.

I’ve never heard my father speak about this part of our kingdom. It’s not until we start to see char marks on the northern sides of the trees that I realize we haven’t yet crossed over. When we do, it’s obvious. The good ground is covered in ash, and eventually, the trees giveaway to nothing but burnt wasteland. I can tell that what took place here happened many years ago as there are a few signs of life–some smaller bushes and plants–but for the most part, everything I see has been turned to ash.

It was in an ancient language and Ashley did not recall it. Ashley mind linked to the forest the way that she had a gift to. She could link with the root system of the trees and communicate the way mushrooms can. The entire forest seemed to thicken and swell. A cool gentle breeze blew into the courtyard inside the Bloodmoon Mountain Pack’s territory. The inhabitants felt that breeze and their hairs stood up on their spines. Cracking and rustling of leaves boomed out from the surrounding forest. A light began to glow and the branches were extending to the ground, gently weaving and twisting around each other to create a lattice around them. The branches wrapped into twisted strong fences.
