I woke up Tuesday morning with that sentence still sitting in my head and made a deliberate decision to put it somewhere I cannot see it for a while. I tried meditation first. I have an app. Lena bought me the subscription last Christmas with the specific energy of someone who had been watching me stress eat crackers over a laptop at eleven at night and decided to intervene. I have opened the app four times since December. I used it once. Fell asleep during the breathing exercise and woke up twenty minutes later to a very calm voice asking if I was ready to set my intentions.

I crossed my legs and settled into meditation pose. Eyes closed. Inhale, exhale. Again. The air moved through me like a tide. I could feel the chaos of the day drifting away almost instantly. Slowly, breath by breath, I began to find my center. My peace. I let the storm of feelings swirl and pass—the anger, the desire, the absurdity of it all—watching them slip away like water down a stream. Gabriel’s voice echoed softly in my mind: "Don’t resist the wave, Amelia. Let it wash through you."

It was dreadful, dark. It was like he was fighting to stay in the light. He was struggling with his own body while being in his own body. He could remember how weak he felt and cold. He eventually gave up and laid down while he helplessly watched the being take over his body and do as it pleased with it. The screams didn’t help, it just made things worse and he gave up. It is incredibly annoying. This will be my third night away from him. I’m doing everything I can not to think of him. And failing miserably. It doesn’t help that my mark prickles and burns, as if he was right there licking or tickling it. It sends waves of heat between my legs as I try to pretend he isn’t everything I want. Instead I run a hot bath, focus on my breathing and try to relax. Surrounded by a stupid amount of candles, their cloyingly perfumed scent already irritating my nose I settled into the tub. According to the wizened Pagett, extending my visions is simply a case of meditation, relaxing my mind.

She pats her abdomen for emphasis. Once she closes the door to her room behind her, she finds herself pacing back and forth, desperate for something to do. She can't seem to sit for too long. Her eye catches a book she's been wanting to read. Reading hasn't exactly fit her mood lately. In one swift motion, she grabs the novel off the shelf, jumps into bed, and opens to the first chapter.

But he waved a hand in front of his old face. "I don't want any excuses. Now resume your meditation!" He snapped! "I'll be watching you from afar! Remember! My eyes are everywhere." I pursed my lips. Despite being annoyed I sat up straight again and tried to meditate. Damn it, whoever wanted to believe me, it was not as easy as Doctor Gordon said. He said I just need to focus and empty my mind. Then I'd have peace. I tried to do that, but all the problems and shadows of Alpha Cedric were coming back to me. And if I had managed to focus and empty my mind, that was when I would have nodded off and fallen back asleep.

Rattling inside my head like caged wild animals. I don’t dwell on them, and I just let them go in whichever direction they desire. Soon enough, my body starts swaying, and I feel like I am in a trance. I’ve never meditated before, but I think this might be it. I’m not sure how much time passed when I realized that my mind was quiet. Empty. There isn’t a single thought in my head. Opening my eyes, I’m impressed. The entire thing is amazing because my head has never been this free. It has never been empty. As long as I can remember, there has always been a thought I was dwelling on.
