Wheels of Fate (MM)
A plate of warm toast, a bowl of rice porridge with soft boiled eggs on the side, and a side of sliced mangoes sat waiting for me.
“You look much better today, Your Highness,” Miriam observed, pouring me a cup of coffee.
I gave her a small smile as I slid into my seat. “I feel better, too.”
“Good,” she said, crossing her arms. “But don’t think I don’t know where you’re going.”
I glanced up at her, feigning innocence as I scooped a spoonful of porridge. “I’m just getting some fresh air.”
Miriam scoffed, shaking her head. “Fresh air, huh? That fresh air wouldn’t happen to smell like burning rubber and gasoline, would it?”
