She met the cold, assessing eyes of Tessa Blake, Dylan’s mother, who was sipping champagne across the room, with a calm she didn't feel.
"You're good at this," Dylan murmured, leaning down so his lips brushed her ear, sending a jolt down her spine. "A little too good." They had both agreed to sort out their issues later and focus on maintaining the perfect relationship in the presence of many eyes.
"I’m a psychiatrist, Dylan. My job is to act out a role that calms the crisis in front of me," she replied, her voice cool and practiced. "Right now, the crisis is you having to explain a potential scandal to Mike Harrison."
